Job for a Cowboy – Demonocracy
I have been waiting for this album for MONTHS. “Demonocracy” is the third album from Arizona death metal purveyors Job for a Cowboy. Their second album, “Ruination”, has been one of my go-to albums for anger management since its release; I fully expect “Demonocracy” to pass the torch.
Job for a Cowboy waste no time at all, they just jump right into being awesome with the first track “Children of Deceit.” True to their usual method of operation, the music on “Demonocracy” is blistering fast, disturbingly brutal, technically astounding and sounds crystal clear so you can hear every note that pierces your body like a hailstorm of razor blades.
The vocals run the gamut from low and gravelly all the way up to high, piercing shrieks. You gotta love an extreme band that gives you this kind of vocal diversity with nary a clean vocal to be found. Sure, there are a lot of death metal bands that are equally brutal, but the technical aspect combined with the phenomenal production easily sets Job for a Cowboy a head above the rest. I imagine if Pinhead and the Cenobites from Clive Barker’s Hellraiser series listened to music, it would be this album.
